Description:
The Center for Communicating Science at Virginia Tech presents a public talk with Sarah McAnulty, founder of Skype a Scientist, titled "Science is for Everyone: Making the Biggest Impact with Your Science Communication" on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Auditorium within the Fralin Life Science Institute on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Are you eager to get involved in science outreach activities, but not sure about the time and money commitments that may be involved? Skype a Scientist allows you to "visit" a school classroom without leaving the comfort of your lab or office, and the founder of this program is visiting Blacksburg to tell us all about it!

Skype a Scientist founder and squid researcher Sarah McAnulty will give a talk for folks who want to learn to share their science more effectively with non-scientists. She will discuss the many ways that scientists can get involved in their communities, both local and online. She will highlight ways that every scientist, from the extroverts to the introverts, can make everyone feel that science has space for them.

The talks are open to the public and free of charge.

The talk will be preceded by a reception in the Fralin Atrium at 5:30 pm.

Scientists and teachers interested in participating in Skype a Scientist can sign up at: https://www.skypeascientist.com/.
