Description:
Science on Tap - New River Valley presents Ruoding Shi speaking on "Understanding Differences in Respiratory Health in Coal-Mining Counties" on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Rising Silo Brewery in Blacksburg, VA.
This month we welcome Ruoding Shi, an applied economist from Virginia Tech, for a discussion on local respiratory health in coal-mining counties. Ruoding grew up in China near a coal mine, so she brings her personal experience to the local region where she measures coal-mining related health risks in Virginia.
Join us to play trivia, make friends, and learn about a topic relevant to southwest Virginia! Sponsored by Virginia Tech's Center for Communicating Science and Sigma Xi chapter, Science on Tap brings researchers to the public.
Admission is free and open to the public. Food and drink are on your own.
Science On Tap New River Valley community celebrates scientific thought and explores new discoveries through monthly events with a featured researcher. We kick off the event with games, comedy, or other fun things. Then, an invited guest researcher demos their research. And then we'll discuss, ask questions, learn together, and mingle.
