Description:
As part of Blacksburg Sustainability Week 2018, Native@VT hosts the Indigenous Garden Tour on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Eons before Europeans set foot in the Blue Ridge, Monacan people planted corn under a waxing moon when the dogwood blooms appeared. They added beans and squash, and the three sister plants grew strong together.

Tour the Indigenous Garden at Virginia Tech, where Native@VT people grow Indigenous organic and sustainable foods and medicines for us and for future generations. Hear the story of how the Tutelo Strawberry Corn came to be grown here, and why traditional farming still works.

Blacksburg Sustainability Week, a collaboration between Sustainable Blacksburg, the Town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech is celebrating its 12th year in 2018.

The Virginia Tech Turfgrass Research Center is located at 615 Southgate Drive in Blacksburg, VA, just east of the Huckleberry Trail.
