Description:
The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents Music on Mondays featuring Pianist Richard Masters on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Squires Recital Salon.
Join faculty pianist Richard Masters as he scales one of the greatest peaks of the piano repertoire, Bach's Goldberg Variations. Originally intended for use as a pedagogical tool, the thirty variations explore every possible compositional angle provided by the unforgettably beautiful theme. Also on the program, Three Transcriptions by Christoph Willibald Gluck.
Masters is a soloist, opera coach, chamber musician, and orchestral pianist at Virginia Tech, where he is an assistant professor of piano and collaborative piano on the music faculty of the School of Performing Arts. Significant collaborations include concerts with Grammy-winning baritone Donnie Ray Albert, Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Barbara Conrad, and former Juilliard String Quartet violinist Earl Carlyss. He has appeared with former Boston Symphony principal trombonist Norman Bolter, saxophonist Harvey Pittel, and under the baton of Lorin Maazel.
Admission is free.
