Description:
Let's Code Blacksburg presents the two night Kids Series programming workshop "Minecraft Plugins Programming with Javascript" on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 and Thursday, February 23, 2017 at TechPad from 5:30-8:30 pm nightly.
Kids! Do you love playing Minecraft? Would you like to learn how to control it by modifying how it works through programming?! Create brand new custom weapons, new types of buildings, and your own mini-games within Minecraft using Javascript (the same language that powers most modern websites). Let's Code Blacksburg Instructor Nathan Liles will lead the two-day workshop.
This two night kids workshop starts off by showing you how to set up your own minecraft server, enabling you to read and execute JavaScript code in-game. Then it jumps into the plugin creation process, teaching you how to generate a basic example plugin, and moving on to craft a custom sword that shoots fireballs.
Even if you've never programmed before, we'll be covering programming concepts such as variables, objects, arrays, functions, and conditionals. This will give you the programming power to do anything you can imagine, like flying zombies, teleporting arrows, and creeper cows. The possibilities are endless.
RSVP sign-up, detailed laptop and software requirements and parking info can be found at

Note: RSVP is for both nights.
For kids ages 8-17 only please. If child is under 16, parents must stay for duration of the workshop.
TechPad is located at 432 North Main Street in Suite 200 in Blacksburg, VA above PKs Bar & Grill.
