Radford University Planetarium presents the Saturday Kids' Planetarium Show "Earth's Wild Ride" on Saturday, February 18, 2017.

"Earth's Wild Ride" imagines Earth as a distant place you once called home, but could never visit again. What would you remember most about the planet, and how would you describe it to your grandchildren?

Set on the surface of the Moon in the year 2081, a grandfather and granddaughter and grandson watch a solar eclipse from scenic cliffs overlooking their moon colony. Conversation leads to contrasts between the moon, the only home the granddaughter knows, and the Earth, where the grandfather has spent most of his life. As they watch the Moon's shadow move across Earth, the grandfather tells stories of crashing asteroids, erupting volcanoes, roaring dinosaurs, electrifying lightning and booming thunder.

Adventure and appreciation for home fill this 20-minute journey back to the Earth. Produced in collaboration with Rice University, through NASA's Immersive Earth Project.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

All shows start with a tour of the nighttime sky as well as some other amazing sights in space using our full-dome Digistar 5 projection system.

The Radford University Planetarium is located in the Center for the Sciences room M75 (Main Street level). Enter through the doors from Parking Lot C.

Parking is typically available in Parking Lots B or C. A campus parking map is available at: http://www.radford.edu/content/parking-transportation/home/information/maps.html.

Note: No food or drink is allowed inside the planetarium.

The planetarium has a maximum of 55 spectators. If the number of visitors reaches the limit of 55, then we will have a sign outside the entry door telling people that we are full and can no longer admit anyone.
