Description:
St. John's Episcopal Church continues their Music on the Corner series with its
annual All Saints concert titled "Eternal Light" on Friday, November 8, 2024.
Music on the Corner will present its annual All Saints concert honoring the saints in our lives, past and present. The program of this year’s concert featuring the St. John’s Choir and chamber orchestra, is a departure from traditional Requiem music by master composers of the past.
The title of the evening program is “Eternal Light” featuring music by contemporary American choral composers. The concert will open with works of remembrance by Daniel Gawthorpe, Morten Lauridsen, Stephen Paulus, Rene’ Clausen and Alice Parker, preparing the listeners for a journey from light into darkness and back again to light in Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminaire.” Elaine Hagenberg’s music “soars with eloquence and ingenuity” (ACDA Choral Journal). Her compositions are performed worldwide and frequently featured at American Choral Directors Association conferences, All-State festivals, Carnegie Hall, and other distinguished international concert halls throughout Europe, Australia, South America, and Asia.
The concert is free and is family friendly, but is not suitable for small children.
St. John's Episcopal Church is located at 1 Mountain Avenue in Roanoke, VA at the corner of Jefferson and Elm Streets in downtown Roanoke, VA.
