Description:
Jessie Peterman Library presents The Meadow At Home on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Ian Caton will be here to tell us how to design, install, and care for native perennial wildflower meadows.

Most people understand that lawns are very detrimental environmentally, but what are the alternatives? Meadows have long been pushed as a viable alternative to lawn, but the obstacles are many. Often, they fail due to a lack of understanding of how to prepare and manage them or complaints from neighbors or local ordinances or from unrealistic expectations.

This lecture will educate the attendee on how to properly select plants for meadows, prepare the ground, install, and manage the meadow for long-term enjoyment. Also addressed will be ways to avoid common mistakes when making meadows and how to deal with meadow "detractors".
