The 85th Newport Agricultural Fair will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 and Saturday, August 14, 2021 on the grounds of the Newport Recreation Center in Giles County, VA.
Built on traditions, the Newport Fair is Virginia’s oldest Agricultural Fair celebrating life the way it was, and blending a touch of the past with our present while teaching others for the future.
Enjoy lots of traditional agriculture fair contest categories to enter including produce, baking, sewing & fancy work, flower show, arts, crafts & hobbies, good food, live music, displays, vendors, friends and community! Bring your family and friends and enjoy food, fun, music and other traditional fair activities!
Saturday Schedule:
• 9:00 am: Fun Horse Show
• 10:00 am: Youth Games (Ages 1-9)
• 1:00 pm: Youth Games (Ages 10+)
• 1:30 pm: History of Newport Presentation (Auditorium)
• 2:00 pm: Old Time Forestry Field Day & Competition (Horse Ring)
• 5:00 pm: Jousting Tournament
• 7:00 pm: Live Music from Half Throttle
• ~9:00 pm: Special Show (at dusk)
To enter the games, participants need to sign up at least 30 minutes prior to session start time. Cash prizes will be awarded from $1.00-$3.00 for 1st-3rd place winners.

• Egg & Spoon Race
• Preschool Sprint
• Preschool Dash
• Preschool Hop
• Wheelbarrow Race
• Sack Race
• Hula Hoop Contest
Games for All Ages (1:00 pm):
• Sack Race

• Three Legged Race
• Piggy Back Race
• Hula Hoop
• Egg Toss
• Egg & Spoon Race
Enjoy a slide presentation of the history of Newport from Doug Martin titled "A Newport History—Lest We Forget" inside the Newport Rec Center Auditorium.
The Old Time Forestry Field Day competitions include two person crosscut saw, log splitting, one person bow saw for both men and women respectively and mixed couple crosscut saw and pole toss.
All exhibits will be located downstairs and in the Rescue Squad Hall.
In case of rain, only individual outdoor events may be affected, all other events will proceed as scheduled.
All pets entering the fairgrounds must be caged or leashed.
