The Blacksburg Junior Women's Club (BJWC) presents the March of Ales 2020 on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the German Club Manor on the campus of Virginia Tech.

March of Ales is the Blacksburg Junior Women's Club's annual fundraising event filled with beer and wine tasting, live and silent auction events, a DJ and dancing, and wonderful local cuisine. This year's theme is Kentucky Derby so get ready to show off your bow tie, derby hats, and Run for the Roses in style!

March of Ales is one of the premiere charity events in the New River Valley and is sure to be a sell-out. In 2019, the event raised more than $23,000. Proceeds benefit service projects that BJWC supports each year throughout the community.

Tickets are available for purchase online and are $50.00 per person. Each ticket includes 12 beer or wine tastings (or 3 full-size pours), heavy hors d’oeuvres, a souvenir pint glass, and the opportunity to bid on valuable auction items.

To purchase tickets online, visit: https://e.givesmart.com/events/f2j/.

Must be 21 or older to attend.

The Blacksburg Junior Woman's Club is a non-profit organization of service-oriented women making a difference in our community through volunteering, fundraising and donations while building and enjoying lasting friendships. The organization seeks to identify the needs in our area and to strive to meet those needs, specifically those involving women and children.

Our mission is to raise funds and provide volunteer service that benefits the New River Valley and surrounding communities. BJWC assists local organizations and families through monetary grants, in-kind donations, volunteering time, and more.

The Club was formed in November, 1935 by a small group of local ladies who wanted to give back to their community as well as strengthen social ties. The group originally had 13 members. The club became a member of the Virginia Federation of Women’s Clubs in February, 1936. The stated object of the organization was to “unite all loyal and progressive citizens in an intelligent effort toward a better Blacksburg, to promote good citizenship, public health, general culture and civic ideals.”

During its early days, the club raised money for the Blacksburg Library, published a “Discovering Blacksburg” booklet for those who were new to the area, sponsored a Girl Scout Brownie troop, started free “Mother and Baby Care” classes in partnership with the American Red Cross, and supported Camp Easter Seals. In 1949, BJWC founded the Blacksburg Newcomer’s Club, which is still in existence today.
