Description:
Historic Smithfield presents A Smithfield Yuletide on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Ring in the holiday season by joining us for A Smithfield Yuletide! Enjoy the Smithfield house by participating in holiday activities for all ages with a concert of live music performed by area musicians in the Drawing Room, Holiday Family Portrait sessions in our School Room with Whitescarver Photography, Christmas story time in the Children’s Bedroom and our yearly Susanna’s Tea featuring tea and light bites in our Museum and Winter Kitchen. A Smithfield Yuletide is sure to have something for everyone.

Stroll around the grounds and interact with re-enactors interpreting historic trades, such as blacksmithing, and gather with your loved ones ‘round the cozy heat of the Smithfield Yule Log in our Pavilion to enjoy dramatic tellings of a time-honored classic "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, performed by local actors. Listen closely as the sounds of carolers who travel around the grounds remind you of the season with their cheerful, holiday tunes.

Try your hand at crafting handmade Christmas gifts for your friends and family by participating in “Colonial Kissing Ball” decoration workshops on Sunday, December 8th. Pre-Registration is required and space is limited while kids craft their own historic tin-punch ornaments and beeswax candles nearby.

In this Season of Giving, we ask that visitors to this event bring non-perishable canned food goods for donation to our Yuletide Food Drive, benefiting New River Community Action, a local organization that gives aid to area low-income families.

Tickets for the site activities are $8.00 to access the grounds, music, house and kids ages 5 & under are free.

Tickets for Susanna’s Tea for adults are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 the day of. Children are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 the day of.
