SJ McDonald is a country musician originally from Virginia and currently based in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born and raised on a small-town turkey and cattle farm, SJ McDonald has always held the values of country music as a core foundation in her life. She started writing songs at a young age and at just 15 years old, the singer formed SaraJane McDonald and Sweetfire. The country-rock band performed across Virginia and North Carolina at festivals and other venues, headlining and opening for country stars Jon Pardi, Runaway June, and more.

In 2017, SJ moved to Nashville and fully committed to writing and performing music. Within the first week of living in town, she had already landed herself weekly gigs on some of Broadway’s most notable stages. She currently continues these shows while balancing full-time school work with daily writes and gigs around town.

SJ was honored with the 2018 John Lennon Scholarship for Songwriters and Composers with her song, "Working Class Woman". She is also a member of the Song Suffragettes, a writers round that highlights and empowers female songwriters in Nashville.

Everyone who meets SJ instantly falls in love, not only with her effortless talent, but also her charming and genuine personality. She prioritizes forming lasting relationships with just about every person she can. When she isn’t working on music, she can be found volunteering weekly at the 510 Foundation in Nashville or diving in on a fish taco at SATCO.

The Hokie Village is a fan and family-friendly festival that will give fans the opportunity to come to Blacksburg on home game days and provide them with free pregame entertainment. Hokie Village features inflatables, tailgating games, concessions, music from the Marching Virginians and appearances by Virginia Tech student-athletes.

Hokie Village will also be the home of a beer garden as a pregame entertainment option for fans looking for easily accessible family friendly tailgating options. As it is a controlled area, fans cannot bring in beer from outside of Hokie Village nor leave Hokie Village without consuming their beverages. Accepting both cash and cards.

In addition, Virginia Tech team buses arrive at approximately 1:00 pm for The Hokie Walk. Head coach Justin Fuente and the team will walk from the outside the West Side of Lane Stadium on Beamer Way to the team locker room in the Merryman Center. Fans are encouraged to cheer on the team upon arrival.

The new Victory to March combines fans' favorite game day traditions to form a spirit parade into Lane Stadium. Beginning one hour prior to kickoff at the Marching Virginians Center, the parade will travel through Lot 5, pass between Lots 2 and 3, and conclude in Lane Stadium entering through the Southwest field tunnel. The parade will feature Skipper, the HokieBird, the HighTechs dance team, the Corps of Cadets spirit team, Esprit De Corps, and of course the Marching Virginians. Fans are encouraged to join in the March to Victory and enter Lane Stadium gates upon the conclusion of the march.

The Hokie Village will be held on the turf soccer practice field and can be accessed by both the Beamer Way gate entrance and the Thompson Field entrance.
