The Virginia Tech Union presents Laugh Riot 2019 featuring headlining comedian Ron Funches with special guests Shapel Lacey and Blair Socci on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in the Commonwealth Ballroom within the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Laugh Riot is Virginia Tech's annual Homecoming Comedy Show.

Ron Funches is a triple threat. He is an excellent stand up comedian, actor and writer. He has built an impressive acting resume. Whether it’s lending his voice to projects like Trolls, Bob’s Burgers, and Adventure Time. Or his memorable acting roles on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Black•ish, New Girl, Transparent, Powerless, and Undateable. He even made being a gang member likable in the film Get Hard.

His personal appearances include Conan, The Tonight Show, @midnight, Chopped, Cupcake Wars and many more. Ron is a great writer too. His writing credits include The Eric Andre Show, Kroll Show and several television pilots.

Ron tours across the country headlining clubs and hosts a weekly podcast titled "Gettin' Better" where he resides in Los Angeles. His recently released a one-hour special titled "Giggle Fit" which premiered on Comedy Central.

Shapel Lacey is an American comedian born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. A diehard punk rocker and former award winning competitive cheerleader, Shapel found ways to express himself and own his individuality at an early age. Shapel was cheerleading competitively for University of Louisville when someone dared him to take the stage as a comedian and he never looked back, dropping out shortly thereafter to pursue a career in stand up full-time.

His unique life experiences such as being adopted by a white family at 15, punk rock mentality, and stage presence combined make for a truly original voice in the community. Diligence and the desire to grow led him from the Pheonix open mic circuit onto main stages where he regularly performed for comedians such as Bill Burr, Chris D’Elia, Hannibal Buress, Bryan Callen, Frank Caliendo, and now regularly in Los Angeles, California the entertainment capital of the world.

Tickets are $20.00 for the general public and $5.00 for students.
