The Virginia Center for Civil War Studies presents speaker Aaron Sheehan-Dean and the Civil War Lecture titled "The Calculus of Violence" on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Brush Mountain room A on the third floor of the Squires Student Center.

Louisiana State University professor Aaron Sheehan-Dean will be discussing his new book "The Calculus of Violence: How Americans Fought the Civil War." Join us as he explores the limits and justifications of violence during the war, the concept of the Civil War as "just" war, and what this continues to mean for us today.

Admission is free and all are welcome.
