Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. presents the 2018 Holiday Trees and Gingerbread Houses taking place from Saturday, November 24, 2018 through Thursday, December 20, 2018 in the first floor Kent Square Lobby.

The Kent Square Lobby is transformed into a Winter Wonderland with decorated trees provided by downtown merchants and community groups and the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest to benefit Micah's Backpack. Bring the whole family to enjoy this spectacular part of the holidays in Downtown Blacksburg!

Voting for your favorite tree and Gingerbread House takes place from Saturday, November 24th through Thursday, December 20th. Fill out your ballot and return it to Kent Jewelers for a chance to win Downtown Blacksburg Gift Certificates.

Spectators can get a ballot from Kent Jewelers, open Monday-Friday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. In December, hours extend until 7:00 pm on Monday-Friday and Sunday hours are added from 12:00-5:00 pm.

Also, choose and vote for your favorite Gingerbread House by completing a ballot from Kent Jewelers. Votes are $1.00 each and all money will be donated to Micah's Backpack.

Micah's Backpack relieves hunger issues by partnering with local schools to provide direct assistance to students who suffer from food insecurity. Each Friday during the year, students receive a backpack filled with enough food to last an entire weekend.

The winning Holiday Trees and Gingerbread Houses will be announced on Saturday, December 22nd at 10:00 am at the Free Family Film Fest at the Lyric Theatre showing "How To Train Your Dragon".
