The Montgomery Museum & Lewis Miller Regional Art Center presents Art Talks with Scott Crawford titled "The Girl I Left Behind Me" on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Great Road on Main in downtown Christiansburg, VA.

Join B. Scott Crawford as he explores a host of paintings and prints from 1800-1945 depicting women, children and other loved ones who remained at home while their family and friends fought their nations' enemies on fields and oceans covering the globe.

When we think of war, we tend to think of, mostly, men clad in uniform armed with the most advanced weaponry available engaged in combat relying on the tactics en vogue at that time. However, for the vast majority of soldiers loved ones remained at home, tending to the home front.

Artists have not ignored this arena as they have grappled with war and the impact of war on society. Loving, haunting, uplifting and moving depictions of the home front have graced their canvases leaving viewers with not only emotions, but thoughtful topics and themes on which to reflect.

Tickets are $20.00 for the general public.

Proceeds benefit the museum.

A cash wine bar will be available for those who want to purchase alcohol.
