The Floyd Country Store presents Amanda Cook and Kristy Cox in concert on their Southern Sisters Bluegrass Tour on Saturday, June 16, 2018.

Kristy Cox is the new voice in Australian bluegrass. Adored for her youthful energy infused acoustic country and bluegrass, she has been awarded with radio success and accolades for her talent. Having moved to the USA in 2013, Kristy released her album ‘Ricochet’ which debuted on six different Billboard charts including #1 for Bluegrass Album. The first single from the album the title track ‘Ricochet’ hit #1 on the US Bluegrass Radio Chart and #1 on the Australian Country Radio Chart. Her previous album ‘Part of Me’ saw her receive three nominations and bring home the Bluegrass Recording of the year at the 2017 Australian Country Music Awards.

The past couple of years have seen Kristy blessed with 2 CMA’s in her home country for Bluegrass Recording of the Year, She also was chosen as an official showcase performer at IBMA, shortlisted in the last 3 IBMA awards for Emerging Artist and Female Vocalist and also performed at many festivals including Merlefest and Doyle Lawson’s Bluegrass Festival.

With a string of #1 hits on Radio and Country Music Television in Australia, Kristy was named Female Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the year at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards with her release ‘Miles and Timezones’.

Credited for her performance and song writing capabilities, Golden Guitar winner Kristy has been shortlisted in the International Bluegrass Music Awards the past two years for New Artist of the Year.

From a young age, Kristy has captured attention with her distinct singing style and positive outlook, seeing her go on to open shows for major acts and appearing on Television and major Festivals across Australia, Europe and the USA.

Amanda Cook from the Gulf Coast of Florida came onto the bluegrass scene with drive and determination. Bringing a mix of traditional and contemporary bluegrass in every show, audiences of all ages enjoy her live performances. The Amanda Cook Band can be found playing many shows regionally and they are moving into the national level at a fast pace.

Amanda acquired a love of bluegrass from her father who played banjo throughout her childhood. In early 2007, Amanda formed bluegrass group High Cotton with her father and received her first taste of performing, fueling a fire to continue on a professional level. In 2013, determined to create her own sound, Amanda stepped out on her own and released her first solo album "One Stop Along the Road". The project made it to the top 150 Roots Music Bluegrass Album Charts for 2014 and 2015 (#61 for 2015 #56 for 2014). The self-released album also brought Amanda significant regional attention and furthered the desire to grow her brand, resulting in the addition of a full touring band.

Amanda has created quite a loyal fan-base through her palpable delivery of a soul-wrenching song. And her light-hearted, down-to-earth style helps her create an undeniably strong connection with her audience.
