At 6:30 pm, we’ll sit down for a gourmet dinner and an update on the work of the Blacksburg Refugee Partnership. The dance floor opens at 8:00 pm with local band Roxburg playing classic rock.
Attire is dressy casual.
Tickets are $75.00 and can be bought on Eventbrite through April 15, 2017.
The Blacksburg Refugee Partnership started in 2016 with a small group of friends concerned about the tragic events escalating in Syria and the incredible suffering in refugee camps. By October 2016, we had helped our first family of Syrian refugees resettle here and two more families arrived in February 2017.
Ours is a holistic approach: we financially support the families’ basic needs like housing, clothing, food, and health care, as well as work side-by-side with them to provide education, tutoring, job search and training, transportation, and English instruction. The goal is to help them be self-sufficient as soon as possible.
