Description:
Rising Silo Farm Brewery presents Eric Arn and John Bohannon: Improvisational Guitar Masters on Saturday, April 8, 2017.

Eric Arn and John Bohannon are riders in the guitar wilds, outlaws on the dusty six- and 12-string trail, wranglers of new sounds from the old steel and wood.

Arn has been at it for decades, cranking up a psychedelic wail in a string of heralded underground head-turners, then leaving the USA for Austria a dozen years ago to explore new corners of the musical map -- some more extremely electric than ever, some acoustic and jarring in their bent gentleness. Arn's long discography includes just two solo albums, the second of which, Orphic Resonance, is just out.

Drawing on wider- and wider-ranging sounds, Arn is back in the States for a run of shows that pairs him with John Bohannon, a Louisville-by-way-of-Brooklyn guitar-slinger. Bohannon's sonic journey has gone from electric-guitar and synth-driven dronescapes released under the name Ancient Ocean to a new acoustic sensibility.

Opening the show are locals Mike & Cara Gangloff.

Mike and Cara Gangloff are Appalachian indie folkers with an international taste in their instrumentation (hardanger fiddle, hurdy gurdy, more) and a unified musical theory that connects the dots from free jazz and improv music to the Gershwins and regional old-time tunes.

Mike Gangloff is also a member of the old-time stringband Black Twig Pickers and the acoustic band Pelt among others.
