Jim Sharkey is an Irish folk musician. He grew up in County Roscommon in the west of Ireland and moved to the U.S. in 1982 when he joined the U.S. Navy. Jim Sharkey has been playing off and on for thirty years.

He grew up listening to Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Rory Gallagher and top twenty music from the late sixties and seventies. Around that time Irish music was making a comeback with the music of The Bothy Band, Planxty, Paul Brady and many others. The songs he has written draw heavily on Irish folk and local traditions. Sweet Anne’s Road and House of Cards reflect many scenes from Roanoke, Virginia, where Sharkey lives now.

The Rusty Seesaws is a folk band from Blacksburg, VA made up of college students at Virginia Tech. They play at various local venues around Southwest Virginia and Northern New Jersey. They perform a lot of modern interpretation of classic traditional music, various folk arrangements and few original tunes.
