The Virginia Tech Police Department presents their 5th Annual Community Day on Saturday, October 1, 2016 on the Virginia Tech Drillfield.
Students, employees, and the general public are invited to attend the free event that will include activities for people of all ages and to learn more about the award-winning and nationally accredited police department.
Activities include:
• Texting and driving simulator
• VIN etching
• Dunk-a-Cop
• K-9 demonstrations
• Donut eating contest
• Car seat installations

• Virginia Tech’s Emergency Response Team
• Virginia Tech’s K-9 Team
• Virginia Tech Rescue Squad
• Blacksburg Fire Department
• Blacksburg Police
• Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office
• Christiansburg Police
• Carillon Lifeguard - Helicopter Crew
The event will also include free food and prizes. Several community organizations will be on hand to share information and talk with participants about their organizations.
A driving simulator will allow participants to measure the difference in their reaction time when they’re behind the wheel while intoxicated. Participants will drive a golf cart through a cone course while wearing impairment goggles.
The rain location is War Memorial Hall.
