The Virginia Tech Psychology Department and The National Center for Prevention of Community Violence (NCPCV) present the United States Premiere of the film "Bully Fighters" on Friday, September 30, 2016 in Davidson Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech.

"Bully Fighters" is the most powerful short film to date on the issue of bullying. NCPCV and the award-winning film "Bully Fighters" will kick off National Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month from September 30 to October 4, 2016 at universities in Virginia and North Carolina.

Written and directed by Canada-based Jupiter J. Makins as a courtroom-style drama, the film posits the idea of harsher laws in regard to bullying. The film’s descriptor reads, “What if bullies who drive another person to suicide were charged with manslaughter?"

The Bully Fighters Team is driven to create a movement against bullying through an eye-opening octagonal short film based on true events. The controversial film is intended to get people talking in order to increase awareness to spark change.

A panel discussion will follow the film to involve the audience for questions and answers on how to address this country wide problem comprised of faulty, members of the Bully Fighters team, police, and community members. Both the director and producers Jupiter J. Makins and Patricia Mckenzie will be our special guests.

Admission is free and open to the public.
