Description:
The Gaye Y. Whitaker Memorial Fund presents the Finish the Fight 5K, a fundraising event for a local woman battling cancer, on Sunday, October 2, 2016 starting at the Christiansburg Recreation Center.
Schedule:
• 8:30 am - Packet Pick-Up begins
• 9:30 am - 5K start
All proceeds will benefit this year's recipient, Deedra Gordon. Deedra is a single mom from Christiansburg who was first diagnosed with cervical cancer November 2014. One year later, she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and has been unable to work since that time. Deedra is an inspiration to all that know her. Her faith, strength and courage in the face of this most recent challenge makes her so deserving of this fundraising event.
The race will start and end at the Christiansburg Recreation Center (back lot). The route is along Huckleberry Trail with turnaround loop and water station at New River Valley Mall.
Advance registration is $15.00 and day of the race registration is $20.00. T-shirts will be available for purchase for $10.00.

Raffle prizes, food and drink, and awards will be provided immediately following race. Awards will be given for top three runners, top male and female runner in each age category.
