The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors and the Pulaski County Courthouses Exhibits’ Committee presents the Annual Veterans Ceremony: Remembrance of Veterans and Members of the Armed Forces at the Pulaski County Old Stone Courthouse War Memorial on Monday, July 4th.
Schedule:
• 12:30 pm - Ceremony begins
• ~1:00 pm - Courthouse Tours begin
The Ceremony will be honoring World War II veterans this year. Several organizations will be participating in the ceremony including VFW Post 1184, American Legion Post 7, AMVETS and Count Pulaski Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Boy Scout Troop 48 and Girl Scout Troop 1247 will also participate in the ceremony.
This year county World War II living veterans will be honored, and at this time there are twelve county World War II veterans that will be attending the ceremony. The twelve WWII Veterans that will be honored range in age from 89 to 96. World War II Veteran, Ms. Olivia D. Clark who served under General Patton in Bad Tolz, Germany, will be the guest speaker.
These veterans served in many places and capacities in World War II including serving under General George Patton; being a prisoner of war in a German prison camp; serving in the Normandy Invasion D-Day at Omaha Beach; and service in the South Pacific, London, Manchuria, Philippines, Okinawa, Shanghai, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Rhineland, Ardennes, Panama and stateside.
Citizens are invited to attend and express their support and thanks to all of our county veterans for their service and sacrifices.
Refreshments will be served in the New River Room and courthouse tours will also be made available to interested citizens after the ceremony starting around 1 pm and will continue as needed.
The Pulaski County Courthouse is located at 45 Third Street, NW in downtown Pulaski, VA.
