The Shawsville Ruritan Club and Eastern Montgomery High School present The 35th Annual Shawsville 5K and Kids One Mile Fun Run starting and finishing at Shawsville Middle School on Monday, July 4, 2016.
Join us for the 35th Annual Shawsville 5K. Held annually on July 4th, this race is one of the longest running races in the Roanoke, Shawsville and Blacksburg area. It is a family oriented race featuring the Fastest Family Competition, with a fast flat course. Join us in celebrating the birth of our nation!

• 8:00 am - 5K & One Mile Fun Run Starts

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall for both women and men and a plague will be awarded to the fastest family (3 immediate family members). Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all age groups.
The One Mile Fun Run takes place at the same time as the 5K competition. There will be a ribbon for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in both the boys and girls divisions for those who have officially entered the race. Admission is free. If an entrant wishes to receive this year’s tee shirt and a raffle ticket, then the entry fee is the same as for the 5K itself.
The race also features the Fastest Family Competition which is a unique feature of our race. There are no special entry fees. Just register each person as usual, but inform our staff on the morning of the race of your team status. Please specify the names of the runners in your family at that time.
A team must consist of three, immediate family members. Team scores will be determined as in a cross country meet—that is, by adding the place of each member within their given age & sex category. Low score wins. A tie will be broken by examining total team times. The Fastest Family will receive a plaque as their prize.
All paid 5K participants will receive a t-shirt.
The event is rain or shine.
