The Town of Blacksburg presents their annual 4th of July Independence Day Festivities on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Municipal Park.
Schedule:
• 6:00 pm - Blacksburg Community Band
• 8:00 pm - Surrender Dorothy
• ~9:30 pm - Fireworks
Join the Town of Blacksburg for their annual Independence Day Celebration at Municipal Park featuring live music from the Blacksburg Community Band and Surrender Dorothy, food vendors and of course fireworks.
The Blacksburg Community Band, Inc. is an all-volunteer community organization formed in 1989 under the auspices of the Department of Parks and Recreation in the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia. The band is under the direction of David McKee.
The ensemble is open to individuals of all ages and ability levels from the New River Valley and surrounding areas and performs in an average of 20 concerts each year throughout the New River Valley. The band was incorporated in Virginia as a non-profit corporation in 2007.

Defined by their love for all styles of music, this musical brotherhood has been together for over twelve years paying homage to classic rock, funk, soul, country and their original music. Surrender Dorothy is a made up of a collection of singer, songwriter, performers located on the East Coast.
From intimate acoustic performances to large format outdoor festivals, Surrender Dorothy has entertained audiences of all tastes and all sizes.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs to enjoy the celebration.
Parking at Municipal Park is very limited. Bus service will be available for the event and is strongly encouraged along with car pooling.
Earlier in the day enjoy the Downtown Parade at 2 pm and a free movie at The Lyric following the parade around 3 pm.
