Description:
The Mountains of Music Homecoming presents the John Doyle Trio, Rose Conway Flanagan and Laura Byrne & Pat Egan on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount, VA.

The John Doyle Trio headlines this concert with Rose Flanagan and Laura Byrne. Grammy Award-nominated Irish musician and songwriter John Doyle, a native of Dublin, Ireland, is one of the leading performers of Irish music.

He regularly performs in his home country, in the United Kingdom, and in the USA. Doyle played guitar for four years with the popular Irish-American band Solas before leaving that band to work as a solo artist. In recent years he has worked with numerous artists, including singers Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tim O’Brien, and Kate Rusby and fiddler Liz Carroll. Doyle frequently appeared on BBC Scotland’s television show “Transatlantic Sessions.”

He has written many traditional-style songs (often exploring the experiences of Irish immigrants), and has helped produce albums by other recording artists. Doyle is a highly accomplished left-handed guitarist who utilizes several techniques and tunings to achieve a range of sounds from the instrument.

Acclaimed fiddler Rose Conway Flanagan was a founding member of the popular Celtic band Cherish the Ladies and is a member of the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Mid-Atlantic Region Hall of Fame. Flanagan recently released Forget Me Not, an album with the Baltimore, Maryland-based flute player Laura Byrne.

The latter musician, a two-time recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council grant in solo performance, has recorded two solo albums, Tune for the Road (2005) and Lucky Day (2010), as well as an album with the Old Bay Ceili Band, Crabs in the Skillet (2011).

Advance tickets are $15 and after May 31, 2016 are $30 in advance and at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, visit: http://www.etix.com/ticket/p/7967348/.
