Description:
The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech presents their Lunchtime Learning Garden Talk Series: Managing Weeds in the Vegetable Garden on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

Proactive Strategies for Managing Weeds in the Vegetable Garden with Alex Hessler, Sustainable Food Systems Director and Instructor.

Many plants we know as weeds serve valuable roles in nature: building soil organic matter, minimizing erosion, and providing food and habitat for wildlife. In the garden, however, these fast growing, resourceful plants can become a source of frustration, reducing vegetable harvests and demanding our attention and labor. This talk will explore how to combine a basic understanding of weed ecology with the right tools and strategies to make weed management easier and less time-consuming.
