Under the direction of Major George McNeill, the Southern Colonels are a 17-piece jazz orchestra consisting of musicians from the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Band Company. Founded shortly after the Regimental Band, the Southern Colonels remain one of the preeminent jazz orchestras at Virginia Tech.
