Description:
Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts Theatre Department presents "The Laramie Project" by Moises Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theatre Project in the Squires Student Center's Studio Theatre beginning on Sunday, November 2nd with performances continuing through Wednesday, November 19th.

In 1998, after a heinous and deadly hate crime against a college student in Laramie, Wyoming, members of the Tectonic Theater Project traveled to the town. Their mission was to collect interviews with locals in the aftermath of the national media swarm surrounding the event.

Their stories are inter-woven to find some illusive truth about the roots of the animosity that spawned the hate crime in this idyllic mid-western town. “The Laramie Project” is made up of news reports and monologues from those interviews, as it explores themes of violence and prejudice against homophobia. The performance is directed by Susanna Rinehart.
