The first ever Veterans at VT Combat Cancer Ride will take place on October 12th at the Floyd EcoVillage. Riders, as individuals or teams, will create their own ride distance by making multiple circuits of a scenic 20-mile loop.

Riders will start at 8 a.m. and continue through 4 p.m. — making the Combat Cancer Ride the perfect opportunity to try out longer distances without having to worry about 50 mile out-and-backs!

If you're there cheering on a friend or taking a break from riding while your teammate rides, have something to eat, browse the great cycling gear on display from local bike shops, and in the afternoon, kick back and listen to some live music performed by local artists ’360.’

Stop thinking about it, and start doing it … go ahead, push the ‘register button. Sign up for the ride, buy a jersey, or make a donation. Or better yet, do all three.

And don’t forget we’re giving away a bicycle and you can get extra tickets for that too on the day of the ride. So, you might be asking, where does all this money go – and that’s a good question. Veterans at VT is putting on the ride to support two causes – The Blue Ridge Affiliate of Susan G. Komen (where 75% of every dollar stays within our area to support women), and to support programs for student veterans at Virginia Tech. All we need now — is you. So go on, sign up. Let’s ride.
