Description:
The Jacksonville Center for the Arts offers Wineglasses Decorations with Polymer Clay and Alcohol Inks with Teri Walters on Friday, June 21st from 4-8 pm.
Class Description:
What is your favorite beverage? A milkshake glass? Water or tea? Coke- a – cola style? Wine? Makes no mind. We will take translucent polymer clay, rubber stamps, alcohol inks (no! not the kind to drink), and create some dynamic “clay fabric sheets” in which to cut out our designs, like leaves, to embellish your glass with. You will never have to drink from a boring glass ever again with your one- of – a- kind drinking vessel!
*Students are to bring in their own glass or vessel for this class. (in many classes, folks are able to get 2 glasses completed, you may want to plan ahead, just in case, and bring an extra glass)
What to look for in a glass for this class? vessels with rounded edges (square edges are more difficult to work with) , ones that are more smooth and tapered as opposed to those that have indentions or areas where we have to fill in with clay.
Due to the limited size of portable toaster ovens, these projects may have to be taken to the artist home for baking and then returned to the Jacksonville Center at a later time. (students have option to take their glasses home and bake them in their own ovens to avoid having to come back to the Jax Center)
Materials Fee: $25
Minimum Enrollment, 3: Maximum Enrollment, 12
Minimum Age: Responsible Young Adult
The Jax is located at 220 Parkway Lane South in Floyd, ½ mile south of the stoplight on Route 8. Regular hours are Monday to Saturday, 10-5pm and Sunday, 12-5pm.
